Un magazine britannique spécialisé dans l’art et la culture a distingué le cinéma Strasbourg L’Odyssée.

Pour Time Out, ce cinéma est tout simplement l’un des 50 plus beaux au monde…

L’Odyssée est 29ème du classement, devant des cinémas de Berlin, Paris, Madrid ou des État-Unis.

Like Strasbourg itself, L’Odyssée has changed hands a lot over the years. It started off German, built in 1913 in the neoclassical style and christened the Union Theater after a cinema of the same name on Berlin’s Alexanderplatz. Then France took back the capital of Alsace after the Great War, and so it was Frenchified. But not for long: during the Second World War, the Nazis briefly requisitioned it as a Soldaten Kino for invading troops. Today, it remains one of the world’s longest-functioning cinemas, and you can see why it’s been so coveted over the years: gold mouldings, plush red seating and an ornate balcony make every screening here feel like an occasion.

Né en 1913, ce cinema est de style néoclassique. Le journaliste précise que la décoration intérieure, les balcons, les sièges, transforme une projection en expérience. 

Comme les autres cinémas, L’Odyssée ne peut plus fonctionner à cause des restrictions sanitaires imposées par l’épidémie de Coronavirus. 

Mais sur sa page Facebook, le cinema indique tout de même préparer un “festival des quartiers” pour ce printemps.
